DANIELA MORELLI , a young italian pianist, graduated at the age of 18 with the highest marks from the Conservatory L. Boccherini" of Lucca. At the Conservatory, she studied under the well-known and well-respected pianist and teacher Rossana Bottai. Now in her early twenties, Daniela continues her studies, whenever her busy career permits, with Madame Bottai.

From a very young age, Daniela won awards - always first prize - in all the piano competitions in which she partecipated. These included:

  • Concorso Nazionale F.I.D.A.P.A. (held at the Teatro Verdi of Pisa),
  • Concorso Nazionale della Versilia,
  • Concorso Nazionale Cittą di Genova,
  • Concorso Nazionale Cittą del Barocco (Lecce),
  • Concorso Nazionale Cittą di Alassio,
  • Concorso Nazionale P. Napoli (Livorno).
Even before receiving her degree from the Conservatory at Lucca, Daniela was already performing professionally with singers and chamber orchestras in Livorno, Lucca, Grosseto and Genova. Her performances won her applause from the public and critics alike.

Currently her concert activity includes both solo piano recitals and piano duets recitals, chamber orchestra partecipation and collaborations with both lyrical and popular singers both in concert and in the theatre. Daniela was Pianista Maestro Accompagnatore for Cimarosa's "Il matrimonio segreto" at the theatre of Montecarlo in Lucca and Milhaud's "Le pauvre matelot" which was sponsored by Armunia, the artistic association which manages concerts and theatrical performances along the so-called Etruscan Coast in Tuscany. Daniela also gave a series of concerts, duets with piano and basson, on the stage of the Castello Pasquini, organised through the collaboration of Armunia and the city government of Rosignano Marittimo.

In 1993 at the age of 19 Daniela Morelli toured the United States with another young Italian pianist. The piano team concertized in Los Angeles and in some of the most prestigious small halls of New York City. They performed piano duets programs for the Landmark Festival of New York at the Green Auditorium, in the Carnegie Hall Studios and for the Philips Gallery, in a concert for ONU which was telecast via several networks in the USA, including an interview with Daniela on Channel 4 of NBC. She had interviews with several Italian television stations including RAI-TV (Italian National Network) which also telecast one of her solo piano concerts. In addition, Daniela collaborates, performs and is musical consultant with some emerging experimental theatre groups located in several Italian cities among which Rome.

 

 
Daniela Morelli has been Maestro Collaboratore of the Schola Cantorum of Rosignano Solvay for 5 years, where she partecipated in the preparation and performance of Mozart's Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana and Beethoven's Fantasia in C minor. Performances were given in several italian cities, including Trieste, Viareggio e Siena.

She continues her piano and composition studies with an intense devotion to the advancement of her musical skills, attending master classes in contemporary music with M° M. Stroppa and with M° Hector Moreno; she has had a master class in the skills of the pianist accompanist in classical music. Currently, at the International Conservatory of Orvieto (Umbria) she is participating in a series of master classes devoted to the pianist-accompanist role in classical/lyrical music. This series of master classes is given by M° Sergio Magli, director of the Teatro San Carlo of Napoli. In her didactic activity, Daniela teaches various musical and pianistic courses at Tuscan conservatories that include C.M.I. of Piombino and A. Bacchelli of Rosignano Marittimo.

Apart from her pianistic activity, Daniela Morelli is a graduate summa cum laude in Philosophy (Musical Aesthetics) at the University of Pisa.
